Thanksgiving Wishes

Thanksgiving is over and I need to go to the gym and sweat off about five pounds. Still, it was a great time with family. I hope yours went as well as mine and that you have had as many blessings this last year as I have. Isn’t it hard to believe another year is almost over? Most of the organizational events are done for 2009 (we still have one more Kobudo class on the second Saturday of December) and plans are coming together for next year to be an exciting one for the AKATO.

The annual seminars, advanced dan promotions and awards banquet is scheduled for March 20. We will be having it at the Richardson YMCA this year because that nice downtown Dallas facility has closed. The same caterer will be doing dinner however, so it will still be great food. Don’t plan anything else on that day because you won’t want to miss it.

A couple of weeks ago I participated in a video shoot of pioneers of American martial arts for an independent production company who is putting together a documentary on the history of the “blood and guts” days of early American karate. They have interviews with several Texas legends like Steen, Burleson and Mullins, along with historical figures like Jhoon Rhee and Chuck Norris. I’ll let you know the progress on the project.

Oh, and Dr. Ted Gambordella, who recently did that popular black belt class for us, has a new business aimed towards internet safety for families. Check it out at his website.
